J's Smokehouse BBQ

We finally made it to the new location. Not a long wait order and the staff was really nice. We had a conversation with the cashier and our server. A cool and relaxed atmosphere. The ribs are always the star for me from J's. The use of freshly cracked pepper is delightful and the meat is tender. I could eat this every visit. The potato salad was tasty. A first for me was the bits of meat in it. I feel like it was homemade bacon bits, but I could be wrong. Whatever the bits were, they elevated the taste of this side. French fries were fresh and piping hot. They were crisp and I was happy to see them on the menu. The price was reasonable for today's economy. A one meat platter with 2 sides and ribs ran for 19. The platter is normally 18, but there is a 1 increase for selecting ribs.

Wow, some of the best BBQ we have ever tasted! Fall apart brisket, Jalapeno Cheese Sausage was smoky and moist, the ribs were cooked to perfection, and the shredded pork was amazing. Loved the mac and cheese, the baked beans and the cole slaw. We will be back as the portions were huge, such a good value.

I worked with Nicole to host my daughter’s post graduation lunch last Saturday. The food was DELICIOUS, they effortlessly accommodated more guests than I had called ahead for, the counter staff anticipated what we needed before we even asked. I highly recommend the ribs, sausage, and jalapeno pineapple slaw. Nicole - Thank you for taking such great care of our family on such a special day!

Hands down the best pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had and it’s not even close. The meat was unbelievably good and the bun had a perfect crisp to it with good taste. I tried both bbq sauces at the table and preferred the hot and also mixing both sauces together tasted good. Oh and almost forgot to mention the potato salad. You never know what you’ll get when it comes to potato salad but honestly some of the best potato salad I’ve ever had as well. Please open a location in Chicago!

Excellent BBQ here in Omaha that is very similar in taste and quality to Chef Js in Kansas City (one of KCs top bbq restaurants). Brisket was moist and had a wonderful bark, the ribs were a highlight with amazing smoke flavor and nice pepper-based rub that wasn’t overwhelming, and the jalapeno cheddar sausage was good too. We have been to a lot of bbq restaurants in Omaha, KC, Des Moines, Dallas and other cities and J’s Smokehouse is already in the top 5. It is a rarity to find a BBQ smokehouse with amazing sides that complement the meats, but the smoked corn and Mac-n-cheese both were excellent. Look forward to trying the cucumber/tomato salad and the potato salad next time we stop in. The only aspect we weren’t huge fans of was the house bbq sauce, as all the meats had amazing smokey flavor, but the sauce was sweet with a hint of Dorothy Lynch salad dressing taste. Obviously bbq sauce is very personalized, so others may love it. We will 100% be returning to J’s Smokehouse.

Went with a coworker for lunch. Got the 3 meat combo with 2 sides. It was a LOT of food, but I don't mind having extra BBQ around. ...

There's not much about J's that I can say that probably hasn't already been said.... ....but I'll at least give it a shot. I'll start off by saying I'm not a Barbecue and smoked meat expert. My focus is generally steaks and fine dining. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a nice slab of ribs every now and then J's has quickly built an incredible reputation in Omaha as one of the best (if not THE best) BBQ joint in the city. I was a bit skeptical going in, but I can say without a doubt that they've exceeded my expectations. The service sizes were extremely generous - this entire set of grub had me out the door for less than 70 bucks after a tip. The meal was all cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and extremely flavorful. All the descriptive words you could ever wish to hear at a place like this The baked beans were incredible, and probably some of the best I've tried recently, and the Mac N Cheese tasted great. The house BBQ sauce was simple and delicious - no need for 10 different kinds to try. The one was perfect (although there was a spicy option available too). Service was typical for a barbecue place - order at the window, grab your drink, seat yourself, and everyone working was great. In all, I would 100% return. Does J's take the crown for #1 in the city? You'll have to decide yourself

The food and service is amazing here. I got the Jefe taco and a smash burger topped with Mac & cheese. The taco was huge and the burger was a true smash burger, a crispy patty on a soft bun loaded with creamy mac. My pictures aren't the greatest but I took them quick on my lunch break because this restaurant deserves a hasty review over no review! I only gave them 4 on the atmosphere because it's nothing special but the joint is clean with plenty of seating. 5 on service because the young blond lady handling the register was on top of the front of house and taking phone calls like a pro. She's awesome! Thanks for making a first time customer's lunch over the top!
